Microdermabrasion has been used for many years to stimulate cell turnover and renewal in the skin. A microdermabrasion treatment generally uses either crystals or a diamond tip to grind away the surface of the skin. Similarly, hydrodermabrasion generally uses a diamond tip to grind away the skin but adds a liquid that flushes away debris from the treatment. For some skin types Microdermabrasion can be too aggressive.
Hydrafacial differs from microdermabrasion because it is a multi-stage facial treatment that uses dermabrasion as just one of the steps. This dermabrasion is delivered in a gentle and controlled manner with the patented Hydropeel tip and is used to enhance skin cleansing and prepare the skin for the additional treatment modalities that follow later in the treatment.
Hydrafacial moves beyond dermabrasion by incorporating techniques such as skin peels, painless pore extractions, skin hydration and antioxidant skin nutrition. Each treatment modality used in Hydrafacial builds on the previous step to create even better results than if it was applied as a stand-alone treatment. The result is a comprehensive rejuvenation without any one step being overly aggressive on the skin.
This leaves the skin prepared and ready to be saturated with vital nutrients like antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid in the final stage of treatment. With the skin and pores cleansed and open the skin absorbs more of the serums than it would if they were topically applied as a cream. Over time this enhances skin health and will help to improve the results of any other advanced treatment that is applied to the skin.
“Our old microdermabrasion machine broke down and we were trying new ones and thought we should try the HydraFacial. My nurse and I loved the results so much we bought a HydraFacial and scrapped the idea of replacing the microdermabrasion machine. It is so much more than the simple ‘buff and polish’ of a microdermabrasion machine; it also has a suction cleanse, light chemical peel and infusion of antioxidants. The HydraFacial has become an integral part of the practice.”
Dr Ingrid Tall, Aquarius Medi-Spa, Brisbane
“Patients enjoy the whole process – from the actual treatment, how skin feels immediately afterwards, to the long-term benefits seen in skin health. I have always preferred using the more “medical” side of dermal therapies – treatments that make a difference but that patients don’t necessarily enjoy. Now we can achieve these same benefits with a treatment that patients look forward to experiencing.”
Dr Jayson Oates, Academy Laser Clinics, Perth
‘The HydraFacial is great for skin maintenance, or skin “fitness. It noticeably decongests and shrinks pores, and then plumps skin with antioxidant and hyaluronic acid infusions. The skin is left healthier and glowing after a HydraFacial treatment.’
Dr Bruce Williamson
“Every stage of the HydraFacial® is essential to the outcome. The infusion of antioxidants and active ingredients is extremely valuable, while the peel, exfoliation and deep extractions involved induce complementary effects. While the HydraFacial® works on the skin’s surface, laser therapy targets the skin’s deeper layers and radiofrequency uses energy to stimulate collagen production in the dermis, or the skin’s deepest layer. Using them together creates an all-encompassing approach to anti-ageing.”
Dr Garry Cussell, The Facial Rejuvenation Clinic
“Patients love it because they can have regular treatments where they instantly see and feel the difference in their skin…The HydraFacial® is a great adjunct to other surgical and non-surgical services. For example, it can prepare skin before laser or surgery, or help freshen the skin after the use of dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections. It’s great for the patient and the clinic, as it’s relatively inexpensive and can be used as a monthly treatment to encourage return visits.”
Dr Mark Magnusson, Toowoomba Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
“Treatment with HydraFacial® produces radiant, dewy skin. It’s ideal as a refreshment treatment before a big event, as there is no downtime associated with the treatment and it works on all skin types and all skin conditions…I use HydraFacial® in conjunction with peels, skin-needling, laser skin resurfacing treatments and also alongside injectable facial rejuvenation. It is particularly effective when used between more aggressive laser skin treatments.”
